Beneficial Phytocannabinoids in Cannabis and Other Plants

Decades of research led to the discovery of the endocannabiniod system (ECS) in the 1980's. The ECS is our own body's natural ability to synthesize cannabinoids via the CB1 and CB2 receptors in our brain, organs and skin. We now know the ECS supports the healthy functioning of our immune and neurological system.  As such, cannabinoid deficiencies are thought to account for some of the underlying cause of a number of neurological and immune disfunction and disease.

Recent clinical evidence shows that the cannabis plant's phytocannabinoids effectively treats a number of neurological and cancer related disorders as well as alleviate pain and inflammation.

But what about cannabinoids that are in other plants? Might these phytonutrients also be of benefit?  For example, chamomile extract has many of the same pain and inflammation fighting ability as hemp extract. Other phytocannabinoids found in chocolate, black pepper, truffles, carob and more target the CB2 receptors that help regulate the immune system.

All disease is inflammation, if we can quiet the inflammation and bolster our immune system with cannabis and other plants like chamomile and chocolate we are heading for some exciting times.

Sundance Cosmetics has already begun researching and developing botanical extracts in addition to cannabis for fighting pain and inflammation.  Be on the lookout for new phytocannabinoid sources to be infused in to our products as we unlock the most beneficial plant properties that mother nature has so abundantly provided.
